Patagonia Suing GAP For Copying Signature Flap Pocket Pullover

Patagonia suing Gap

GAP has had an interesting year.

Following the fallout of Ye, GAP finds itself in the middle of a lawsuit. Patagonia, the outdoor luxury clothing brand, is suing GAP, alleging the brand copied its signature snap-t flap pocket pullover.

According to Reuters, in a complaint filed in San Fransico, California, “Patagonia said Gap is willfully and deliberately selling fleece jackets that mimic its flap pocket and rectangular “P-6″ logo without permission.”

The jacket caught customers’ attention, as one person said, “Obvious Pata*gonia ripoff. I had to zoom in just to ensure that the logo was GAP.”

Patagonia also alleges that GAP intended to confuse customers with the copycat jackets saying the “adoption of designs and logos bearing even more similarity cannot have occurred by accident.”

The lawsuit requested lost profits and unspecified damages and halted further infringement production.

GAP has yet to respond, but it’s another thing added to the to-do list.

The iconic pullovers were introduced in 1985, and added the snap-t pocket is known to be a staple to the brand.
