Patrick Mahomes Sr. Faces DWI Charges Following His Recent Arrest

Patrick Mahomes Sr.

Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II, has pleaded guilty to his third DWI charge. The 54-year-old was arrested on February 24 after a traffic stop in Smith County, where his blood alcohol content was recorded at 0.23, significantly above the legal limit.

Scheduled for a jury trial, Mahomes Sr. instead pleaded guilty in Judge Kerry L. Russell’s court on Tuesday. He agreed to a five-year probation sentence, with the first year requiring “intense” supervision. A formal sentencing is set for September 23, following the completion of a pre-sentence report.

The initial arrest report indicated that an open alcohol container was visible in the center console of Mahomes Sr.’s vehicle, and his vehicle registration had been expired since September 2022. Mahomes Sr. admitted to having “a few beers” while watching a game at a bar before driving.

In addition to the DWI charge, Mahomes Sr. is also facing a charge of driving with an invalid license, to which he pleaded not guilty on July 26. He is due for a pre-trial hearing on this charge on October 15.
