In Peru, a woman’s burial was disrupted when she began pounding on the casket lid, indicating that she was still alive.

Relatives were shocked to find Rosa Isabel Cespede Callaca, 36, with her eyes wide open in the casket.

Rosa was transported to Referential Hospital Ferrenafe, where she was immediately connected to a life support machine.

Doctors confirmed that she had vital signs, although extremely low, and that her condition improved significantly when placed on life support.

Unfortunately, Rosa’s condition quickly worsened, and she died just hours later.

Cemetery caretaker Juan Segundo Cajo said: “[She] opened her eyes and was sweating. I immediately went to my office and called the police.”

Before, Rosa was involved in a catastrophic car accident on the road in the Chiclayo-Picsi region, which killed her brother-in-law and left her nephews seriously injured.

After the crash, she was pronounced dead, and her relatives planned a burial for her on April 26 in Lambayque.

Rosa’s family was understandably outraged that she had been proclaimed dead and taken to the morgue for a funeral “in the first place.”

“We want to know why my niece reacted yesterday when we were taking her to be buried,” said one of Rosa’s aunts. “We have the videos in which she pushes and touches the coffin.”

It’s been suggested that the doctors at the hospital mistook her coma for death.

Police are now looking into whether medical workers removed Rosa from life support, proclaimed her dead, and transferred her to the morgue without proper examination to ensure she was indeed dead.

Rosa’s three nephews, who were also injured in the crash, are recovering in hospital but remain in critical edition.
