Federal prosecutors announced on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, that Robert, a 37 year old subcontractor hired to watch Philadelphia Eagles players’ cars, has been charged with bank fraud. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, he is accused of taking about $225,034.52 from the bank account of Eagles offensive lineman Todd Herremans between 2009 and 2012.
CBS Philadelphia reports that Herremans’s financial advisor noticed unusual credit card charges and alerted Philadelphia police. Authorities say the money went toward two cars, computers and phones. Robert worked for the security firm Staff One, which provided the car watching service at the team’s hotel lot.
The Eagles said the initial theft happened in the hotel lot and not at Lincoln Financial Field, and that Herremans was fully insured and got all of his money back. Herremans said he was relieved it was caught in time and stressed the importance of being careful with personal information.
The charge is an allegation. At the time of this report we had not found a response from Robert.
