Last weekend, Dallas Cowboys’ Terrance Williams was arrested for public intoxication after he crashed his car and left it at the scene.
In the incident, which occurred last Saturday, police say Williams rammed his 2017 Lamborghini into a light pole and then fled the scene. Upon arrival, according to DallasCowboys.com, police were able to confirm that the wrecked, blue Lambo was Williams’, but were unable to immediately locate him. However, he was later found a short distance from the crash, riding an electric bicycle. He was then taken into custody, booked for public intoxication, and then released on bond.
However, in a statement Williams released after his release, he provided a slightly different account of what really went down in the crash, as he explained he didn’t really flee the scene.
“I am grateful that no one was injured in the accident. The driver in front of me slammed on his brakes and I turned to the left and hopped the curb to avoid hitting him. I got his insurance information and my neighbor picked me up when my car wouldn’t drive. I live right near where the accident occurred, so my neighbor dropped me off and I called a tow truck and took the scooter from my house to go meet the tow truck driver,” he said. “The police officer, who I have met in the past in the neighborhood, saw me on the scooter and arrested me without performing any sobriety tests.”
But now, as photos from the incident surface, Williams’ story has become a bit murky, as far as the details of the crash are concerned. Despite Williams’ claim that another car forced him to jump a curb, pictures show that he may have actually hit the light pole like police say, as the down pole was also pictured in the photos.
In the meantime, Cowboys coach, Jason Garrett says the entire incident is still under investigation and Williams is still “part of our team” in the wake of his arrest.
