Pilar Sanders has won a major round in her legal fight with her ex husband, Deion Sanders.
The two divorced in 2013 after a long marriage. Afterward, Deion sued Pilar for defamation over public statements she made accusing him of domestic violence and financial abuse. Deion has denied those claims. A Texas court sided with Deion and awarded him about $2.2 million, according to TMZ. That judgment was set to offset money he owed Pilar under their divorce settlement.
Pilar appealed. On August 29, 2017, a Texas appeals court in Dallas reversed the judgment. The three judge panel ruled that Deion had not proven Pilar acted with malice when she made the statements, which wiped out the $2.2 million award. A public response from Deion about the ruling had not been reported when this story was published.
Baller Alert also reported, based on information from Pilar’s attorney, Craig Jackson, that Pilar has primary custody of the couple’s younger children. According to our sources at the time, the kids are living with their mother full time.
We will keep you posted if either side has more to say.
