Pittsburgh Steelers’ safety Kameron Kelly was arrested outside a bar on Pittsburgh’s South Side early Friday morning and charged with making terroristic threats and resisting arrest.
According to ESPN, police said Kelly was being disorderly at Mario’s South Side Saloon. Court documents describe that Kelly became confrontational when an officer told him to leave.
Per the complaint, Kelly had already threatened to knock out an employee at the bar after the jukebox in the establishment skipped his music selection.
Outside the bar, the arresting officer accidentally stepped on the foot of a woman Kelly was with, who then began arguing with the officer. Kelly said the woman was “his girl” and pushed his chest against the officer’s and threatened him, according to the complaint.
Kelly then proceeded to resist arrest while arguing with officers, and an officer on the scene punched Kelly in the face multiple times during the struggle. He was treated at a Pittsburgh hospital for a split lip and was then immediately transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
In the wake of the incident, the Steelers have cut Kelly.
