Atlanta rapper Playboi Carti was arrested on a Thursday in Clayton County, Georgia, and released shortly afterward, according to local reports.
The rapper, whose real name is Jordan Carter, was first pulled over for an expired tag, according to a news release from Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill.
The sheriff’s office said deputies reported finding marijuana, three guns and several pills, including Xanax, codeine and oxycodone, after the stop. Carti was arrested along with a 21 year old man named Jaylan, and both were taken to the Clayton County jail.
Court records show the rapper was charged with marijuana possession, improperly passing an emergency vehicle, and failing to display an updated decal on his license plate. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that he was released shortly after the arrest.
It is worth noting that the sheriff’s description of what was found and the charges listed in court records are not the same thing. The charges are allegations, and Carti had not publicly commented on the arrest at the time of this report.
