A Florida woman was arrested on Monday after surveillance video allegedly showed her tampering with ice cream at a shop next to the store where she works, according to police.
Indian Shores deputies arrested Jung Soon, 66, of St. Petersburg, in connection with incidents at Lu Lu’s Ice Cream last month. Authorities say the lost product cost the business at least $2,000 and forced the shop to close for a week. Jung Soon works at a food mart next door and had recently started sharing a bathroom with the ice cream shop, according to reports.
A police affidavit says that on June 17, she was seen using the bathroom without washing her hands and then touching ice cream in a freezer. In another clip, she allegedly spat into containers of ice cream. The affidavit also alleges that on June 22, she contaminated equipment used to make and clean up the ice cream products.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office says she was charged with two felonies, criminal mischief and tampering. According to the Tampa Bay Times, she was held on $55,000 bond and has since been released from jail. These are allegations, and the case had not been decided at the time of this post.
Police say they do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved and have not said what the motive was. Paul, who co-owns the shop with his wife Beth, told WPTV that the issue may have been tied to parking outside the two stores. “We didn’t even know she was mad,” he said. “But I’m guessing it’s from the parking and us being popular.”
