Pooh Shiesty and his lawyer have a new explanation regarding the Staples trip that led to his confrontation with Gucci Mane. While prosecutors claim Shiesty and his co-defendants printed the contract release form at the store, his attorney Bradford Cohen claims the rapper was simply printing lyrics.
Cohen is now pushing back on what prosecutors have framed as a key setup moment in the case. He argues the stop has been mischaracterized and says it reflects normal studio preparation, not evidence of a planned crime.
“I don’t even care if they’re at Staples. They are going to a recording studio. Normally, my clients usually print off lyrics for different individuals. If you have five individuals that are going to be on one record, and they each have a section or a part, they’ll usually print those things off.”
The explanation lands at the center of a broader case involving Pooh Shiesty and Gucci Mane. Authorities allege Shiesty orchestrated a confrontation where Gucci Mane was held at gunpoint and forced to sign paperwork releasing him from his contract.
Investigators also claim members of Shiesty’s crew took jewelry during the encounter, stacking robbery allegations onto the case. Prosecutors have leaned on the Staples visit to suggest the situation was planned in advance, pointing to the alleged printing of documents before the incident.
Cohen disputes that narrative and is also questioning the strength of the timeline presented by authorities.
“The FBI doesn’t take three months to arrest someone if they believe everything that was said on the night it occurred.”
As the case unfolds, both sides are focusing on the same sequence of events while offering sharply different interpretations, leaving key details still in dispute.
