The legal drama for Pooh Shiesty’s dad, Lontrell Williams Sr., is far from over as he makes a fresh push to get out on bond.
Williams just filed a brief arguing that he should be released, especially after a judge’s order to let him go was put on hold earlier this month. He’s standing his ground, claiming the feds simply don’t have the receipts to keep him locked up. Williams asserted the government cannot provide “clear and convincing evidence” proving that it is necessary for him to remain behind bars.
Williams is leaning on the fact that Judge Christoff originally sided with him. Even when looking at his past, the judge took the “history and characteristics of the person” into account and felt he was fit to go home. Williams is now doubling down on that, telling the court that the government hasn’t proven he’s a legit threat to the community, and the judge’s first decision pretty much proves his point.
The whole case stems from a wild situation where Gucci Mane was reportedly robbed at a recording studio in Dallas. The feds claim Gucci was held at gunpoint and forced to sign papers that would let Pooh Shiesty out of his 1017 Records deal. Williams is calling cap on the whole thing, specifically the idea that he was there orchestrating the move. Williams disputes the claim that he was “present” in the recording studio and directed that Gucci “be forced to date his signature.”
His lawyers are making it clear that even if you look at the government’s side of the story, the evidence is still weak. They are using the judge’s own words to show that Williams wasn’t some mastermind behind a robbery.
“But as Judge Christoff observed, even in a light most favorable to the government, this evidence only shows that Mr. Williams, at most, ‘stood by and let it happen,’” court docs read. Now, Pooh Shiesty’s dad is just waiting to see if the court will finally let him walk.
