Porsha Williams may be done with her marriage, but she’s not heartless.
In newly surfaced audio from her divorce proceedings with Simon Guobadia, the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star admitted she paid his child support and other bills while he was locked up in ICE custody.
“Yes, I paid his child support for his two sons. I also paid maintenance for the house—outside of utilities,” Porsha is heard saying in the leaked clip.
“I really got concerned, being that Simon was still detained […] I’m still married to him at the end of the day, and I just really felt it was unfortunate that they weren’t getting any help.”
According to Williams, the kids’ mother reached out to her team directly, saying she hadn’t received any support.
“The mother had reached out to my assistant and said she was concerned. When I spoke to her, she made me aware that it had not been paid, I paid [his child support],” she explained.
The financial help came after the couple’s short-lived marriage of just over a year. Despite filing for divorce, Williams still felt compelled to step in. Their prenup reportedly includes monthly alimony payments, division of their shared assets, and coverage of legal costs.
As for Guobadia, he was originally detained by ICE in February and spent four months in custody before being released earlier this month. His immigration issues have been a hot topic online, especially as rumors about the validity of his citizenship continue to circulate.
One thing is clear, his ex might be walking away from the marriage, but not from doing what she feels is right.
