An early police report on the incident at Cameo nightclub in Miami Beach does not name Mike Pouncey of the Miami Dolphins or his brother Maurkice Pouncey of the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to the Broward Palm Beach New Times.
The altercation happened early Saturday morning. A man named Ricky, who says he was hurt, claimed on social media that the brothers were involved and said he planned to press charges. The Pounceys’ attorney, Jeff Ostrow, has denied any involvement. A club worker who spoke to Local 10 News without giving a name also said the brothers were seated a few tables away and were not part of it.
The New Times reports that as of Monday, Miami Beach Police Sgt. Bobby Hernandez said detectives were still working to figure out exactly what happened and whether the brothers were involved. The incident report lists two people who say they were hit, a woman and a man, and describes the person who hit them only as an unknown male who was leaving the club.
The paper noted it was unclear whether the man listed in the report is the same person who made the original claims online, though that seemed likely. Ricky has also responded on Twitter to people who doubted his story, saying he did not need the Pouncey brothers for attention.
Bottom line for now: the allegations are unproven, the brothers deny them, and police are still looking into it. We will keep you posted.
