Powerball winner Marie Holmes started 2016 by posting bond for her boyfriend once more, according to local North Carolina reports.
Holmes won a $188 million Powerball jackpot in February 2015. Soon after, she paid a $3 million bond for her boyfriend Lamar, who was in jail on heroin trafficking charges from 2014.
Reports say Lamar was arrested again in July after a raid, accused of violating the terms of his pretrial release. Officers also reported finding weapons and drugs at the home. Under the terms of his release, his bond doubled, and Holmes posted the $6 million bond in early August.
A warrant was then issued on December 26 charging Lamar with a misdemeanor count of conspiring to arrange a street race. He was arrested on a Tuesday for violating his pretrial release, and the bond doubled again to $12 million. He was released from jail just before 12:45 a.m. after Holmes posted it.
The charges against Lamar are allegations, and he has not been convicted of the new charge.
