President Biden took a nasty tumble on Thursday, sending his political opponents and supporters concerned for his health.
The fall occurred on stage during the U.S. Air Force Academy graduation ceremony in Colorado. After Biden gave the commencement speech, he shook hands with several graduates before falling close to the podium. Biden apparently tripped over a black sandbag being used to hold the teleprompter steady. Those around him sprung into action to help the 80-year-old to his feet, but not before images of his mishap were captured to be shared online.
Thankfully, Biden walked away from the ordeal without the help of others, a sign that no injuries were sustained. Upon returning to the White House, Biden told reporters that he’d gotten “sandbagged” but maintained he was okay. He even gave them a playful jog. Former President Donald Trump reacted to the incident during an Iowa rally.
“He actually fell down?” Trump asked reporters before adding, “I hope he wasn’t hurt. The whole thing is crazy.” He then advised Biden to “tiptoe” down the steps next time.
White House staffers have also confirmed that the Commander-In-Chief is doing well. Communications Director Ben LaBolt and Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre have both shared that Biden is getting around just fine. However, that did not stop people on social media from both supporting and dragging him regarding his age and health, which have come into question multiple times.
Nevertheless, one mere hiccup will not stop the determined leader, who has announced his bid for re-election, though instances such as this will likely haunt him on the campaign trail.
