Taraji P. Henson and Chris Paul have been appointed to join President Joe Biden’s HBCU Advisory Board.
On Thursday, Henson, who majored in musical theater at Howard University, shared the news with a throwback photo of her wearing an alumni hat at a football game.
“I am excited to announce that President Biden has appointed me to serve on his HBCU Board of Advisors,” she says. “Since taking office, the President and Vice President Harris have invested $5.8 Billion in HBCUs. And I look forward to working with them to continue efforts to support these important institutions.”
Last year, President Biden announced that he was reestablishing the HBCU Initiative. According to the White House, members on the board work to “increase the capacity of HBCUs to provide the highest-quality education to its students and continue serving as engines of opportunity.”
In addition to appointing Henson and Paul, Biden also established Tony Allen and Glenda Glover as chair and vice-chair of the board. In February, he named Dietra Trent as executive director.
