One of the most iconic countdown shows in Black music history is returning to the spotlight. BET announced that 106 & Park will receive a major tribute at the 2025 BET Awards in honor of its 25th anniversary. The legendary music video series is being celebrated with a full reunion of its most beloved hosts and a lineup that captures the essence of a cultural era.
AJ Calloway, Free, Julissa Bermudez, Rocsi Diaz, Terrence J, and Keshia Chanté will all share the stage live in Los Angeles. They will be joined by Bow Wow, also known as Mr. 106 & Park, along with performances from Amerie, B2K, Jim Jones, Mya, T.I., and more surprise guests. The moment promises to bring fans back to the days when 106 & Park ruled weekday afternoons and shaped the sound and style of a generation.
Scott Mills, BET’s President and CEO, called 106 & Park the heartbeat of Black youth culture and credited the show with helping to launch careers and spotlight artists in ways that deeply influenced music and fashion. He added that Freestyle Friday, live performances, and the connection to everyday fans helped make it one of the network’s most impactful programs.
BET’s Connie Orlando added that the show’s legacy still influences how we engage with artists and music today. She called the reunion a chance to honor how 106 & Park transformed Black creativity and culture for 25 years.
The celebration begins during BET Experience weekend with the return of Freestyle Friday and a reimagined 106 & Park set at the Los Angeles Convention Center. On Saturday, June 7, a freestyle battle will spotlight new talent and feature special appearances. On Sunday, June 8, former hosts will revisit their favorite moments with fans in an interactive installation that recreates the spirit of the original set, complete with music, memories, and photo opportunities.
The tribute continues on Monday, June 9, during the BET Awards red carpet pre-show where Terrence J will host a special segment featuring a classic freestyle battle and a world premiere music video. Bow Wow will also take over BET Social Live, streaming directly from the carpet with exclusive coverage.
The 2025 BET Awards will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles at 8 pm ET. The main tribute to 106 & Park will feature unforgettable moments, fan-favorite throwbacks, and the voices that helped define an entire era of Black music television.
