Internet hackers have been very busy lately. Several celebrities have fallen victim to the online assault recently, including Katy Perry, Kylie Jenner, Keith Richards, and Tenacious D to name a few. Hackers tweeted out offensive statements from the celebrity accounts, as well as a Jack Black death hoax.
Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg’s other social media accounts were also compromised. According to The Verge, it is unclear if the social media hacks are related; however, the high volume of social media intrusions in a short time is unusual.
The hack on Zuckerberg’s account was by the OurMine Team, which claimed the CEO’s password was one of more than 100 million obtained during a 2012 LinkedIn Hack. According to PC Magazine, although the hack was four years ago, additional data from the breached was released last month, resulting in recent hacks.
Sources say, the hacker is selling the stolen account data on the dark Web for about $2,923. Apparently, everyone needs a stronger password these days.
