The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees for the 2022 Golden Globe Awards on Monday. Snoop Dogg and HFPA president Helen Hoehne made the announcement, with many commenting on Snoop’s hilarious mispronunciation of several names.
Some of this year’s nominees include Beyoncé, Issa Rae, Denzel Washington, Will Smith, and Billy Porter. Lupin and Pose were nominated in the Best Television Series categories.
The nominations come on the heels of changes implemented by the HFPA. The organization recently added more diverse members to its selection committee after bombshell reports by the New York Times and The Los Angeles Times revealed the group had no Black voters. The reports also exposed other ethical and financial woes.
“This has been a year of change and reflection for the HFPA,” HFPA president Helen Hoehne said. “For the past eight months, we have worked tirelessly as an organization to be better.”
She also touched on the fact the HFPA has added 21 new members to its organization. That number includes the addition of six Black members.
There are no plans to air the ceremony this year. The Golden Globe winners will be revealed on January 9, but it’s unclear what type of event will be held. They are scheduled for the same night as the Critics Choice Awards, which will be televised.
