International travelers heading to the United States may soon need to budget a little extra. A new law signed by Donald Trump could require tourists, students, and business travelers from countries that need a non-immigrant visa to pay a $250 “visa integrity fee” just to enter the country.
The fee will only impact visitors who must apply for a visa before traveling, according to details shared by the Envoy Global law firm. While there is no official start date yet, the policy is expected to roll out soon.
Starting in 2026, the $250 entry fee could rise to account for inflation, meaning the cost to visit the U.S. could continue to climb. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will oversee the final decision on how much travelers will have to pay when the policy is implemented.
For now, travelers are advised to watch for updates, as the fee could become another significant cost for international students, tourists, and businesses planning trips to the U.S.
