Police arrested three TSA agents at Miami International Airport after they stole from passengers during security screenings.
According to CBS News, Elizabeth Fuster (22), Labarrius Williams (33), and Josue Gonzalez (20) were arrested and charged with organized schemes to defraud.
After a series of thefts, the airport’s federal security director for law enforcement contacted a Miami-Dade Police detective to investigate. Upon further inquiry, officials discovered security footage that showed the agents working together to distract passengers and steal money from their items.
Fuster, Williams, and Gonzalez were captured on surveillance cameras taking $600 from a passenger’s wallet while the passenger was in the security line. In addition, detectives found a connection between this case and a previous theft investigation.
As a result, both Gonzalez and Fuster surrendered their rights during a formal interview at the TSA Command Center. They admitted to their involvement in written statements, but Williams did not.
“The Transportation Security Administration holds its Transportation Security Officers to the highest professional and ethical standards and has no tolerance for misconduct in the workplace,” a TSA spokesperson told NBC Miami. “We actively and aggressively investigated these allegations of misconduct and presented our findings to MDPD, and are working closely with them. Any employee who fails to meet our fundamental ethical standards is held accountable.”
All three have since bonded out of jail.
