Rapper 42 Dugg was taken into custody by federal agents on Wednesday after failing to turn himself in to serve his six-month prison stint.
The “4 Da Gang” superstar was due to report to a federal prison camp in West Virginia last month. His sentence resulted from illegally possessing a firearm after surveillance footage from a gun range showed the 27-year-old possessing, loading, and shooting a 9 mm Glock pistol. This is a violation of his three-year probation, which he received in 2020 for a separate firearm possession charge. Dugg also failed drug tests while on probation though it is unclear what drugs he had in his system. In February, a judge revoked it and ordered the rapper to serve six months.
The CMG signee was apprehended as he got off of a private jet in Detroit shortly after arriving from Memphis. Since he took his time with turning himself in, Dugg is now facing an even steeper sentence of five years in prison for absconding.
The new batch of legal issues comes as 42 Dugg revels in the success of his well-received joint project with labelmate EST Gee, titled “Last Ones Left.”
42 Dugg’s team has not publicly commented on the arrest.
