If you enjoy seeing 50 Cent perform his hit songs on stage, just know that he doesn’t plan on hanging up his mic anytime soon.
The 49-year-old rapper and businessman recently sat down with PEOPLE for a candid interview about performing and how he’ll know when it’s time to retire from music.
“When I get ready to perform, I get butterflies for the first minute,” he admitted. “It’s like nervous energy. I think if and when that stops, you shouldn’t do it anymore because you no longer care about the outcome of a show.”
Doubling down on dismissing the retirement thoughts, 50 announced his mini “In Da Club” Las Vegas residency. The six-date series is expected to take place at PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, closing out this year and opening 2025 with a New Year’s Eve special performance.
“I’ve been trying to put this together the whole time,” 50 continued. “The things that I couldn’t do before in my productions, I revisited all those different things. I said, ‘We should try this. Just do this all extra stuff.’ I got a team of guys helping me with the show.”
Additionally, he also confirmed that even though he plans to incorporate new things into his shows, fans can still expect to hear their favorite tracks, such as “Candy Shop” and “21 Questions.”
“I’m conscious of the way we hear things, like the way the audience is listening to things,” he added. “I make things that bridge my audience … to the new audience, and stuff like that. A lot of the stuff that I did in the very beginning, it matches up to the tone of things that are going on in the neighborhoods now.”
If you’re interested in checking out his show, the series will run on December 27th, 28th, 30th, and 31st and January 3rd and 4th, with each show starting at 9 p.m. The New Year’s Eve show will kick off at 10 p.m.
