50 Cent is gearing up to take Dame Dash’s “Paid in Full” to television screens, though not everyone is rejoicing.

The rapper and media mogul announced he’s secured the rights to the beloved 2002 Harlem classic and plans to develop it into a premium television series. Even more surprising, Harlem’s own Cam’ron, who portrayed the infamous “Rico” in the original film, is joining the project as an executive producer alongside 50 Cent.
“I now have the rights to PAID IN FULL,” 50 Cent posted on Instagram. “I’m developing it into a premium TV show. If you like ‘Godfather of Harlem,’ you’re gonna love this. Cam set to executive produce alongside me, if you want in get at him — I’m out of the country.”
While fans welcomed the announcement with excitement, Dash had a much different reaction. He reposted 50’s announcement on his own Instagram with a pointed caption: “Smh 😂 stay tuned. Damn… the real Rico @mr_camron. So this is what this is all about.”
He then followed up with a video calling out the former Dipset star directly.
“I wanna congratulate him for making 50 his new boss,” Dash said. “So congratulations, Cam. 50 is now your new boss, and you’re proud of it.”
This drama comes at a particularly vulnerable time for Dash. Just days ago, he filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Florida, claiming over $25 million in debt and listing only $4,350 in assets. According to legal documents, Dash said he had just $100 in cash, along with a small amount of jewelry, clothing, two firearms, and a cellphone. Once one of hip-hop’s most influential business minds through Roc-A-Fella Records and Roc-A-Fella Films, Dash is now navigating major financial hardship.
The original “Paid in Full,” starring Cam’ron, Wood Harris, and Mekhi Phifer, is widely regarded as a hip-hop cult classic. It depicted the reality of Harlem’s drug trade during the 1980s, leaving a lasting imprint on music, fashion, and street culture.
With 50 Cent’s production success on shows like “Power,” “BMF,” and “Raising Kanan,” and Cam’ron’s firsthand connection to the story, this series has the potential to bring Harlem’s legacy to a whole new generation, but it’s not without controversy.
Cam’ron has confirmed he will executive produce the series, but has not yet replied to Dash.
