A$AP Rocky’s ex-pal A$AP Relli says the rapper threatened to kill him shortly before allegedly firing a gun at him.
On Wednesday, the former A$AP Mob member, whose real name is Terell Ephron, took the stand to tell his side of what led to the violent incident. During the preliminary hearing in Los Angeles, Relli said under oath that he and Rocky became distanced in recent years. However, on November 6th, 2021, Relli says he was summoned to a hotel room by Rocky for what he thought was a chance to talk out their issues. However, Relli claims the rapper and his entourage attacked him. Rocky allegedly stuck a gun close to Relli’s stomach and threatened to kill him. At some point, the “Wassup” rapper moved the gun and began firing at him, striking Relli in the hand. Relli says he fired several more rounds before fleeing.
Rolling Stone reports that grainy footage of the purported shooting was shown in court, which may play a crucial role in the case. The video shows a group of men engaged in a scuffle at a Los Angeles intersection. While the shooting is not immediately evident without enhancement, the court observed one person sprinting away while the rest scattered.
Rocky was subsequently charged with two counts of assault for the shooting. He has pleaded not guilty. The criminal case is not the end of Rocky’s legal problems. Relli has also sued him and his attorney, Joe Tacopin, for defamation, claiming the men have painted him as a liar after the shooting. Relli says he has received death threats since the ordeal.
Rocky hasn’t said too much regarding the shooting in recent months as he focuses on a new creative director role with Puma and being a dad to baby number two with partner Rihanna.
The hearing will continue on Thursday. It’s unclear if Rocky will take the stand.
