Good Times actor John Amos is dispelling allegations made by his daughter that he’s become a victim of elder abuse and possible financial crimes amid his hospitalization.
The actor’s daughter Shannon Amos claimed that he called in a panic last month while she was abroad, informing her he was in a Memphis hospital.
She claimed that within that time, the Amos family learned that the 83-year-old had been the victim of elder abuse and financial exploitation, saying that “His home had been violated, stripped of anything valuable.” She even started a GoFundMe asking for $500,000.
However, Amos contradicted his daughter’s allegations, stating to TMZ on Thursday that they are untrue. According to the outlet, the actor explicitly stated that he is not being subjected to any form of abuse and is not in a life-threatening condition. Amos also told the outlet he’s unsure why his daughter would start a GoFundMe.
A rep for the actor also reportedly commented on his hospitalization, explaining that his lower body had been accumulating fluid, leading to heart complications. Fortunately, medical professionals successfully drained the fluid, and he recently started to feel 100 percent.’
