Actor Michael Rapaport is suing SiriusXM’s Barstool Radio for doing to him the exact thing he does for a living…talking sh*t. Michael claims that he is owed $375,000 from a $600,000 deal he made with the sports website and he also claims the site is attempting to tarnish his reputation by making herpes allegations against him in a public forum.
Rapaport had a short lived working relationship with Barstool, as he was fired in February after he went on a Twitter rampage against the company’s employees and fans, calling them “losers in life.” It seems the beef all started last year when Barstool began trolling the actor on their website. According To Page Six, one of Barstool’s bloggers wrote a post titled, “Michael Rapaport Is A Fraudulent Sack of Sh*t”. Then, a few days before he was fired, another Barstool writer tweeted that Rapaport was “a creepy, herpes ridden failure.”
Michael claims he was branded on tee shirts sold by the company with a clown nose and a sore under his mouth, in which he believes was a “campaign to discredit” him. He also says he deserves any percentage of merchandise sold with his face on it.
The Blast broke the story and shortly after, Smitty from Barstool made a statement saying, “That fraud, that hack, that loser, that lunatic, if he wants to sue me or Barstool Sports for any money whatsoever, he’s gonna have to take it from me. He’s gonna have to come and get it.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
During a discussion on the Barstool Radio show about the lawsuit, Mike Walter from The Blast called in and spoke with Dave Portnoy about the documents obtained by the publication.
On the call, Dave Portnoy said the lawsuit was “stunning” and that Rapaport is a “fraud” because he has said so many vile things to them but wants to sue when they clapped back. Portnoy says the contract they had with Rapaport was for them to take over his existing podcast with #CBS Radio and he was also getting paid to do rants, as agreed. But once he “went off the rails”, all bets were off because there was a termination clause in the contract that stated he can’t cause harm to employees, in which Rapaport did.
Welp! They say, “If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.”
