While staying at an Airbnb in Philly, a woman thought she’d raised a potential safety issue by alleging the home was equipped with hidden cameras in its fire sprinklers, but the company is dismissing the claim.
The woman, who recently stayed with a group of girlfriends, turned to Twitter to voice her concerns, “BE CAUTIOUS BOOKING AIR BNBs! My friend & I recently stayed at an Airbnb in Philadelphia with over 10 hidden cameras all over the house. Including the showers and bedrooms. Some were disguised as sprinkler systems, but it has a camera lens.”
She then shared photos and videos from inside the house, allegedly showing the cameras.
According to a spokesperson from Airbnb, the company has taken the allegations seriously by working with Philadelphia Police Department.
The spokesperson said that the police “Confirmed that he did not find any hidden or undisclosed cameras and that the fire sprinklers had regular sprinkler heads. The detective also confirmed that they plan to close this case.”
According to Airbnb, the company plans to offer the woman a refund.
