After one year of marriage, rapper and reality star Akbar V has officially filed for divorce from her husband, Shakeem Taylor, better known as Da Real Bean.
On Saturday, Akbar took to Instagram to announce the news, sharing a photo of her divorce petition, which was filed in Cobb County, Georgia. Despite vowing to keep her personal life private, Akbar explained in the post that she wanted to share her own news before the media could.
“Today i file for divorce and the reason im addressing this is because it was so many people who saw me in courtroom and i didn’t want anyone to tell my story before i got to tell it… i think this was the best decision i could make me an bean kool with it he told me this was kool to post .. i want him to be free and find someone who fits him …. i been through a lot these last couple months and today i chose me over anybody else,” her Instagram post read.
The announcement doesn’t come as much of a surprise, especially since Akbar has previously expressed her desire for a divorce. Last year, the couple made headlines after Akbar’s daughter experienced a medical emergency. At the time, the rapper asked for prayers on social media as her daughter was “fighting for her life.” However, Da Real Bean shared that while their daughter was ill, she was not facing life-threatening complications. Unfortunately, Akbar didn’t take the post well and accused her husband of being a “clout chaser.” She claimed that Da Real Bean used their personal issues to gain attention and admitted she wanted a divorce.
