Actor Alec Baldwin has settled his lawsuit with the family of Halyna Hutchins, who died on the set of his movie “Rust.”
Back in February, the family of Hutchins filed a lawsuit against Baldwin and others involved in the production of “Rust” after the 42-year-old was fatally shot on October 21, 2021. The gun was discharged by Baldwin, and the family is claiming Baldwin and the crew exhibited reckless behavior and poor safety measures due to a cut in funding for the film led to Hutchins’ death and the film’s director being wounded.
“Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained the specific desire to do what is best for Halyna’s son,” said Baldwin’s attorney in a statement. “We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the resolution of this tragic and painful situation.”
The details about the specificity of the damages the family will receive weren’t disclosed, NBC News reports.
“All of us believe Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work,” said Matthew Hutchins in a statement.
The film is set to resume production in January.
