During an interview with Complex Magazine, Allen Iverson opened up about the first time he met Michael Jordan and The NotoriousBIG.
Iverson met #Biggie while the New York rapper was making music. “Puff introduced us. I went to play in Rucker Park and he was in the studio…It was like a bucket list moment for me.”
Eventually, Biggie began requesting Iverson’s Reebok line of shoes, “Question.” “While he was out in LA, he was trying to get the Questions from his mom. He came to see me after the game. And I’m looking at him like, ‘what are you doing here?’ He was like, ‘I came to see you.’” Iverson added that soon after that his mother informed him of Biggie’s death following his game against then The Washington Bullets.
“My mom came from Virginia. She woke me up about 4 o’clock in the morning and said baby ya man dead.” Luckily Iverson was able to witness Biggie create his final project while alive “Life After Death.” “I was fortunate enough to be there while he was recording “Life After Death.”
Iverson then opened up about his first encounter with his favorite basketball player Michael Jordan. Iverson says he was teased by his teammates, as they knew he was about to play his icon. The Virginia native believed he could resist being star-studded, but that fell through as soon as he saw Jordan.
“I walked out there and I saw him. I was a fan, I mean that’s what I’ve always been – – that was my guy that was my hero. But as soon as they threw that ball in the air,” said Iverson.
The first time the two spoke was during a Rookie game, Iverson explained. “The first time I ever talked to him was that year, in the Rookie game. I’ll never forget because he said ‘what’s up you, little bitch.’” I looked at him like…aight man.” Luckily, Iverson had another chance to converse with No.23 who told Iverson he was upset over how bad Iverson crossed him during a game. “I always knew once I got to the League I was going to try my move on the best…so he was just a victim that night.
