AMC Theatres and Zoom Video Communications, Inc. have joined forces for an all-new theater experience.
Together, the duo will kick off “Zoom Rooms” across the United States beginning in 2023. While most probably believe these rooms will bring movie-goers from across the country together to enjoy films, this is not the case. In fact, these rooms are geared toward companies that have turned to virtual operations.
Businesses and organizations can reserve Zoom Rooms at their closest theaters for up to three hours. AMC will provide all the necessary equipment to run the presentations successfully. Auditoriums can hold between 75 and 150 attendees, while participants unable to make it in person will be attending via the movie screen. Those who reserve the rooms can also request add-ons such as food and beverages, movie viewings, and personalized concierge services for an additional fee.
Adam Aron, the CEO of AMC, calls the partnership the “best of both worlds.”
“Zoom Rooms at AMC broadens our scope, as we now can participate as well in the multi-billion market for corporate and other meetings,” Aron shared.
The Zoom Rooms will be available across 17 major U.S. markets and are a part of AMC’s official re-brand. In 2020, COVID-19 nearly forced AMC and other movie companies out of business when cinemas nationwide were forced to close their doors. Last year, the company launched an initiative to sell popcorn in at least five malls across the country as part of a venture called “AMC Theatres Perfectly Popcorn,” helping generate revenue as it struggled to recover financially.
As of now, the starting price for the Zoom Room reservations is not known.
