American Airlines passengers were reportedly in shambles after being left on a hot plane for six hours.
Rude TSA employees and a long layover, we could maybe get over. But can you imagine being stuck on a hot plane for six hours without food or drink? That’s what happened to a group of passengers this past Sunday afternoon.
The flight was about to be on its way to New York City JFK from Charlotte Douglas International Airport when the aircraft started having fuel tank issues. Passengers were moved from their original plane to another one, where they were held on the runway.
One of the passengers who shared the experience said the first plane had “limited” air condition but the second plane had none at all. Tweeting out the happenings on the flight, the passenger shared that some flyers were having a “mental breakdown.” Despite how uncomfortable they were, American Airlines reportedly wouldn’t allow flyers to leave.
The plane finally took off at 7:30 p.m.
“While certainly an unfortunate delay, it is something we apologize to our customers for with the combination of maintenance and weather,” said Andrew Trull, a spokesperson for American Airlines.
