André 3000 has a response to fans who may be disappointed in him not releasing rap music.

The OutKast superstar sat with GQ ahead of his new project, “New Blue Sun.” While speaking with Zach Baron, 3 Stacks expressed his belief that while he would love to rap again, he’s not at an age where he has anything to offer the rap game.

“I’m 48 years old. And not to say that age is a thing that dictates what you rap about, but in a way, it does. And things that happen in my life, like, what are you talking about? ‘I got to go get a colonoscopy.’ What are you rapping about? ‘My eyesight is going bad.’ You can find cool ways to say it, but….” 3000 joked.

He admitted that various new producers have been reaching out to him to work on music. He attempts to write new raps, but they simply feel “inauthentic” to him. For this reason, he chose to do an entire flute-only album. In recent years, many fans have observed 3000 playing the flute in various settings. His talents with the instrument attracted the family of Virgil Abloh, who asked 3 Stacks to play at his funeral. However, he declined the offer due to his limited relationship with Abloh while he was still alive.

“New Blue Sun” doesn’t appear to have any features or verses at all, for that matter, something that fans have had mixed reactions about. With it being his first album in nearly two decades, supporters will undoubtedly show up for him, no matter what genre he is interested in.
