A huge congratulations is in order for Tallahassee Mayor, Andrew Gillum, as it’s been announced he has won Democratic nomination to run for Florida Governor.

Gillum, the first black Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Florida history, won the primary with 34 percent of the vote, according the Associated Press, who projected 87 percent of precincts reporting. Former Senator Gwen Graham, won 32 percent of the vote.

Senator Bernie Sanders, who has been a great supporter of Gillum, tweeted his congratulations stating, “Congratulations to @AndrewGillum on his victory. Tonight, Floridians joined Andrew in standing up and demanding real change and showed our nation what is possible when we stand together. Let’s make history this November and make Andrew Gillum the next Governor of Florida.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Gillum will go up against Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) in the gubernatorial election in November, going against a hardline conservative backed by President Trump.
