Apple is doubling down on U.S. innovation with a massive $500 billion investment plan that will create 20,000 new jobs in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and software engineering. The tech giant announced on Monday that these roles will drive advancements in AI-powered services, product development, and automation technology.

Additionally, Apple is expanding its Apple TV+ content, funding new original programming to compete with Netflix and Disney+. A major highlight of this investment is the development of a large-scale manufacturing facility in Texas, reinforcing Apple’s efforts to strengthen its supply chain in the United States.

Apple’s move to increase U.S. manufacturing comes at a crucial time. CEO Tim Cook recently met with Donald Trump to discuss the impact of rising Chinese tariffs on Apple’s cost structure. With over 95% of AirPods, Macs, and iPads produced in China, Apple faces major challenges if tariffs continue to rise.

China remains a key market, accounting for roughly 24% of Apple’s iPhone sales, compared to 21% in the U.S. However, with Trump’s latest order imposing a 10% tariff on Chinese goods—on top of previous tariffs reaching up to 25%—Apple is working to diversify its production and reduce reliance on overseas manufacturing.

This investment signals Apple’s growing commitment to AI and automation. While rivals like Google and Microsoft have been aggressive in AI development, Apple is now expanding its AI research, focusing on machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing.

With AI-powered features driving Apple products like Siri, Face ID, and the iPhone camera system, the company is ramping up efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into its entire ecosystem. These new AI and software engineering roles will be critical to shaping the next generation of Apple’s technology.
