Apple’s latest iPhone model is reportedly getting a major upgrade — satellite communication connectivity. This means no more dead zones! In areas of poor cellular service, you’ll still be able to make calls and send text messages.
The iPhone 13 is rumored to use a Qualcomm X60 baseband chip that supports satellite communications. This will allow users in areas with little to no 4G or 5G coverage, the phone is still usable.
According to analyst Ming-Chi-Kuo who reviewed a note to investors, the phone will most likely use low earth orbit satellites provided by Globalstar. Qualcomm has reportedly already been working with the company on future baseband chips.
The iPhone 13 is expected to make its debut sometime in September. It is expected to be announced during Apple’s fall event. The new iPhone is also rumored to come in new colors, such as bubble gum pink, matte black, and bronzy gold. The phone’s design may also feature a smaller front-screen notch and a thicker camera bump.
