Aries Spears is speaking out following serious allegations accusing him and fellow comedian Tiffany Haddish of child sex abuse.
As previously reported, both Spears and Haddish were named in a recent lawsuit alleging grooming and child sex abuse in connection with a Funny or Die Skit from years ago.
Wednesday Spears spoke briefly about the allegations on the latest episode of his “Spears and Steinberg” podcast calling the suit an extortion attempt.
“This is an extortion case. This is shakedown. We won’t be shaken down,” he said, echoing his attorney’s recent statement.
“And believe me, it’s bothering for me not to talk about the skit. There’s some very valid very things I feel like I have to say or wanna say, but just can’t at this time.”
“I’m no coward. I’m not running from anything. I’m not guilty of anything,” he continued.
Haddish also spoke out about the allegations recently, saying she “deeply” regrets performing in the 2013 skit.
“I really look forward to being able to share a lot more about this situation as soon as I can,” Haddish concluded her statement.
