Atlanta Police Department Releases Body Cam Footage Of The Officer Who Fatally Killed Raysahrd Brooks Outside In A Wendy’s Parking Lot

Friday night, 27-year-old, Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed in the parking of a Wendys in Atlanta, Georgia. After several footages of the incident from witnesses, the body camera footage was officially released.

The night of the incident, Officer Devin Bronsan received a call about a man sleep in a Wendy’s drive-thru.

From the footage, you see officer Devin Bronsan, approach Brooks’s car. Very suspicious that Brooks had been drinking, he calls DUI certified-officer, Garrett Rolfe, to the scene.

Brooks, who had been cooperating with the police, spent 30 minutes taking a sobriety test.

Everything begins to escalate after Police attempt to take Brooks into custody for a failed sobriety test. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

On the footage, you can see the struggle between Brooks and Bronsan. When the body camera falls, you can still hear the struggle going on.

According to Insider, Brooks grabbed one of the officers’ tasers and took off running. Then, you can hear at least three shots fired.

Brooks was rushed to an Atlanta hospital, where he died of his injuries.

According to Channel 2 Atlanta, Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields immediately resigned upon hearing the news of the shooting. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms “called for the immediate termination of the officer.”

Officer Rolfe was identified as the officer that killed Brooks and was fired Saturday night. Bronsan has been placed on administrative duty.

  1. Many people still don’t realize you can get arrested for DUI while parked like he was at a drive thru. However even though he shouldn’t have resisted arrest and taken the police taser, he should not have been shot 3 times while running away. With how serious it is under new laws for drivers having to fightDUIcharges if convicted in court today, it’s understandable why some people might panic when under a DUI arrest and make bad impulsive decisions.

    • I believe the other officer’s camera should also be uploaded for viewing by the public before we pass judgements. This camera was off during the shots fired and we can’t see what caused him to shoot. I really do wish he wasn’t shot and killed.
