Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ Blazes to $104 Million Global Debut

Bad Boys: Ride or Die

“Bad Boys: Ride or Die” has set the box office on fire, crossing the $100 million mark globally in its opening weekend. The fourth film in Sony’s buddy cop comedy series, featuring the dynamic duo Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, earned a whopping $104.6 million, with $48.6 million coming from international audiences.

This is a significant comeback for Will Smith, marking his first major film since the 2022 Oscars incident. The enduring popularity of the “Bad Boys” franchise, which has captivated audiences for over three decades, played a key role in the film’s success.

Sony invested $100 million in producing “Bad Boys 4” and additional millions in global marketing. The strong start positions the film well for its theatrical run. However, it remains to be seen if it will surpass the record set by 2020’s “Bad Boys for Life,” which grossed $206 million domestically and $426 million worldwide.

Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, “Ride or Die” follows detectives Mike and Marcus as they uncover corruption within the Miami Police Department. After a setup makes them fugitives, they must work outside the law to solve the case. Smith also produced the film alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, a consistent figure in the franchise.

Domestically, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” topped the box office with $56 million. Internationally, it saw the strongest opening in the United Kingdom, earning $4.9 million over five days. Mexico followed with $4.2 million, while Saudi Arabia and Germany each brought in $3.7 million over the same period. The film has yet to premiere in major markets like Italy, Japan, and China, which could further boost its earnings.

With its action-packed storyline and beloved stars, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” is off to an impressive start, and fans worldwide are excited to join detectives Mike and Marcus on their latest adventure.
