On May 7, 1992, 26 years ago today, Sir Mix-a-Lot released the hit song “Baby Got Back.” The song was written and featured on his album “Mack Daddy.”

Back in the early 90’s a lot music was banned due to sexually explicit lyrics about women. “Baby Got Back” caused a lot of controversy with its outspoken and sexual lyrics. The video for the song was also banned briefly by MTV.
It was the second best-selling song in the U.S., with sales of 2,392,000 physical copies in 1992. In 2008, the song ranked number 17 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop.

The song debuted at number 75 on Billboard Hot 100 chart on April 11, 1992 and went to number one.
