Ballerific Music: New Music Drops to Start Your Weekend from Drake, Marvin Sapp, Jacquees, Dej Loaf and More

New Music Friday falls on Valentine’s Day this year and there is plenty of music dedicated to the lovers. 

First up is Drake and PartyNextDoor’s joint album, “$ome $exy $ongs 4 U.” This 21-track album has long been teased by both artists. “$ome $exy $ongs 4 U” is crafted of primarily romance-filled records, though Drake still took the opportunity to take shots at many of his opps, especially those who criticized him during his rap feud with Kendrick Lamar. Joe Budden and his co-host Melyssa Ford were among those who received shots on the project. Still, the subject matter is not overshadowed, with R&B Drizzy in full effect alongside Party. 

Elsewhere on the lover’s front, gospel star Marvin Sapp unveiled “If I Were an R&B Singer,” his first album that is not faith-based. Sapp’s timeless vocals take a traditional approach to the genre, singing of marriage, commitment, and unfiltered romance, something that is often missing in the R&B of today. 

Jacquees and Dej Loaf also returned with their collaborative, “F**k a Friend Zone 2.” This project serves as the follow-up to their 2017 “F**k a Friend Zone” mixtape. The duo has been plagued with real-life drama since they announced their album, specifically with Jacquees’ fiance, Deiondra Sanders calling out the pair publicly over their close bond. That has not swayed the buzz surrounding this 16-song release, with themes of love and friendship.
