A bank robber who was accused of fleeing with thousands of dollars in cash didn’t get far before a red dye pack exploded, and it was all seen on camera.
After taking $2,300 from Capitol One on Springfield Avenue, police in Newark, NJ discovered a video of the culprit crossing the street.
Around 10 a.m. Saturday, the alleged robber entered the bank and handed a teller a handwritten note requesting cash. According to authorities, the message stated, “I have a gun, give me all the money from the register please, and no one will get hurt.”
Police say as the suspect moved beyond the bank premises moments after exiting the bank, a red dye pack hidden with the cash exploded.
Officers have shared the video in hopes of someone identifying the suspect.
