A long-abandoned estate belonging to the family of Osama bin Laden just hit the market for a whopping $28 million. The house belongs to Ibrahim bin Laden, the older half-brother of the al-Qaeda leader.
Bin Laden purchased the home for $1.6 million in 1983, but it has sat vacant since the September 11th terrorist attacks. Bin Laden was said to be vacationing abroad during the attacks and never returned to the United States out of fear.
The property’s value stems from “land value only.” Since sitting vacant, the home is in a state of disrepair. As a result, the listing for the residence does not contain any interior photos.
The Mediterranean-style home is located in Bel-Air and boasts 7,100 square feet on more than two acres. The pink-painted concrete home has seven bedrooms and five bathrooms. The property includes such neighbors as the Bel Air Hotel.
The house was originally built in 1931 and once belonged to Hollywood producer Arthur Freed. He is best known for the classic films The Wizard of Oz, Show Boat, and Singin’ in the Rain.
