Television icon Betty White is offering tips on enjoying life as she approaches her 99th birthday.
The beloved “Golden Girl” told PEOPLE that remaining positive regardless of the circumstances have carried her through life.
“I don’t like the other side. The positive side is a lot more fun.” She later noted that a good sense of humor can take you far in life.
“Again, having a sense of humor,” she reiterates. “Just looking at the positive side and not dwelling on the downside. Takes up too much energy being negative. Also, having a good agent who keeps me busy all the time.”
Born in 1922 in Oak Park, Illinois, her dreams of becoming a forest ranger were shattered by the former laws that banned women from working as forest rangers. Then her Hollywood ambitions took over. The vibrant actress appeared in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and most famously, The Golden Girls, which ran for seven seasons and several awards. Betty White won Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1986 for her role in the series.
