Bill Murray Says Kelis Dating Rumors “Raised My Cred a Lot,” But Denies Romance [Video]

Bill Murray is setting the record straight on those wild Kelis dating rumors that had the internet talking last summer.

During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning to promote his new movie Riff Raff, the legendary actor reflected on how much he loves Kelis’ feature on Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s “Got Your Money”—and how that admiration led to their introduction.

“I got great press that I was dating her, which really raised my cred a lot,” Murray joked. He went on to say that he was late to discovering the song but was hooked once he saw the video. “That particular song, Ol’ Dirty Bastard—that song just kills me. I love that video. I kept going, ‘That’s the silliest thing. How did I miss that when it came out in the first place?’”

Curious about the woman in the video, Murray said he eventually met Kelis and was instantly impressed. “She turned out to be spectacular,” he said.

Though romance rumors swirled after he was spotted watching her perform at the Mighty Hoopla festival in London in 2023, Murray insists there was nothing romantic going on. However, he admitted they’re still friends and recently caught up, revealing that Kelis bought land in Kenya to start a farm.

When Sway pressed him to confirm that they never dated, Murray denied it again—before jokingly leaving the door open. “One of us could be on the rebound any second. She might need a plow man down there.”
