Boston Richey may soon be off the hook in his federal case, though he still has a retrial ahead.
On Thursday, a Tallahassee jury found the Florida rapper not guilty of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. His co-defendant, Rayshun Foster, known as Real Boston Glizzy, was also cleared of those same charges.
However, both men, along with co-defendants De’Anthony Swatzie and Jerdy Miller Jr., still face one unresolved charge of conspiracy to distribute marijuana. A retrial is set to begin on September 29th.
The “Help Me” star was initially expected to be released while awaiting the retrial. That changed when it was revealed he had an outstanding warrant in Texas. In that case, authorities allege Richey assaulted his former girlfriend, Tatiana Chanell, outside a Houston nightclub earlier this year. Because of that warrant, he will remain in custody until the new trial.
Federal prosecutors initially accused Richey of conspiring to distribute marijuana and possessing multiple firearms, including several Glock pistols, a revolver, a rifle, and a shotgun. The rapper has prior convictions, including attempted robbery and burglary, dating back to 2014 and 2017.
