Bow Wow Blames Fame for His Failed Love Life—Says Being a Good Guy Still Gets Him in Trouble [Video]

He explained that relationships can become complicated because women dating him often see him surrounded by crowds, fans, and persistent attention from other women. Even when he believes he is acting appropriately, these dynamics can create misunderstandings. Reflecting on his early career, Bow Wow revealed that being mentored by Jermaine Dupri has had unexpected effects on his personal life.

He described the impact as a curse, saying, “‘Cause in situations where I like this girl and I’m putting my best foot forward and I’m really f**king with her and I’m trying to do the right thing, I’ve learned me being me, even when I’m doing the right thing, doing the wrong thing.”

He illustrated the challenges with a simple but telling example. Bow Wow recalled a time he asked a female bartender for cranberry juice at a nightclub, only to have his romantic partner accuse him of “talking to b***hes.” He added, “I might as well f**k the bartender then, the way you getting at me.”

Bow Wow said he has attempted to help partners understand his world by bringing them along on tours and even to strip clubs.

However, he admitted that these efforts often backfired. Rather than creating trust, the experience frequently became overwhelming and chaotic, leaving his partners feeling uncomfortable and stressed. Sharing a story from his late teens, Bow Wow recounted an incident at one of his birthday parties.

He said, “my 18th birthday party or 19th, one of them,” and explained that he walked in hand in hand with a woman he was dating at the time. Despite being with her, another woman still slipped a phone number into his free hand as he entered.

Moments like this, he said, are simply part of the territory when dating someone of his status. He further explained that being with a high-profile celebrity requires a strong mental fortitude.

Bow Wow compared the constant attention from groupies to chaos, saying, “They do not give give a f**k about you. They do not care. They going to keep coming. They going to keep trying to holler. They going to keep throwing it. They going to keep sliding in my DMs. You have to be mentally tough for this s**t. I do not need you to break down. I got your back. But I do not need you to get caught up in this s**t.”

According to Bow Wow, regardless of the city or location even places he described as “humbuck f**k, Alabama” there are always dozens of women waiting backstage. He estimates that “50, 60 girls” are typically around him, making it essential for any partner to be prepared for constant attention.
