Bow Wow is the latest celeb to speak out on the absence of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ iconic parties following Diddy’s recent legal issues. The rapper-turned-actor, who’s no stranger to the nightlife scene, shared his thoughts during an appearance on the More to the Story podcast, and his perspective sheds light on just how much Diddy’s influence is missed.
“I never thought I’d see it like this,” Bow Wow, 37, admitted. Reflecting on Diddy’s longtime status as a key figure in the hip-hop world, Bow Wow explained that recent award weekends, especially the BET Awards and the BET Hip Hop Awards, have felt empty without Diddy’s famous celebrations. “He’s like the gatekeeper to the game. The last couple BET weekends just didn’t feel right—there was no motion, no parties,” Bow Wow said.
It’s no secret that Diddy’s lavish parties were legendary, setting the tone for awards season and giving industry insiders a place to connect and celebrate. Bow Wow continued by emphasizing Diddy’s role as a crucial part of hip-hop culture. “It really shows how monumental he was. I told [my mentor] Jermaine Dupri, ‘There were no parties.’ You feel that absence; it’s like a hole in the scene,” he explained.
For Bow Wow, Diddy wasn’t just a music mogul but a cultural icon whose presence transcended the music charts. “He was everything hip-hop,” Bow Wow reflected. “He had such a hand in the liquor, the clubs—he set the vibe. You never think something like that would just stop, especially when it’s someone you looked up to, someone you idolized.”
