Britney Spears has dropped a bombshell, revealing that she once had an abortion while pregnant by singer Justin Timberlake.
The pop star made the revelation in her forthcoming memoir, “The Woman In Me.” Spears and Timberlake dated from 1999 to 2002, becoming a Hollywood It couple and the topic of tabloids. However, their picture-perfect relationship got rocky behind the scenes once Timberlake learned that Spears was pregnant.
“I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” Spears explained in an excerpt obtained by People. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
Spears says they both agreed to terminate the pregnancy, though she doesn’t know if “that was the right decision.” Spears said if it were only her decision, she would have gone through with having the child.
The bombshell is just one of many surely to blow fans away when “The Woman In Me” is released on October 24th. Page Six previously reported that Timberlake was nervous about what Spears might put in her memoir. Another topic that will likely be covered is her mental breakdown, which led to her conservatorship. The highly anticipated book arrives nearly two years after the strict court-ordered conservatorship ended. Spears promises to offer a look into the “incredible journey and strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history.”
